Fangs of Fenrir
Fangs of Fenrir is a direct drive coffee grinder without gears. It is developed for high mechanical precision, easy service and local production.

- Problem
- Coffee grinders often have poor bearing placement, shafts, gears, proprietary parts and demanding maintenance. This gives poor serviceability and a shorter life.
- Solution
- The project develops a direct drive grinder with 98 mm burrs and high precision. Wear parts and key components can be replaced or made locally.
- Technical core
- The grinder is designed for precise burr geometry, fewer proprietary parts, easy disassembly and components that are simple to produce. The goal is a grinder that can be maintained whether or not the maker still exists.
- Research and development
- The development was approved as SkatteFUNN project 329975 by the Research Council of Norway for 2021 and 2022.
- Business model
- The grinder can be commercialised through direct sales, a pilot customer, licensing, royalties and OEM.
- The role of IMISU
- IMISU develops the grinder and is responsible for commercialisation.
- Wanted partners
- Production partners, the coffee industry, investors, design partners and distribution partners.
